Instagram Stories might not look like an ideal platform for storytelling at first glance. The stories only last for 24 hours, require cutting up content into very short pieces and don’t leave room for lots of text.

But BBC News has been experimenting with using the social media platform as an opportunity to reach younger audiences who regularly use Instagram but may not spend time going directly to BBC News’ website.

BBC News’ social media editor, Mark Frankel, shares some successes and challenges to using Instagram Stories to increase their reach with a targeted user demographic.
