How to measure the effectiveness of your platform strategy

Read about one site's strategy for measuring the effectiveness of each platform it uses for distribution.

After you’ve successfully launched distribution plans for different platforms, how do you know which you should keep, and which are worth re-evaluating? The Daily Signal, a news site from the conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation, created an “engagement index” to solve this challenge. According to Nieman Lab, the team listed individual metrics across all of the distribution channels it publishes and owns and assigned a number based on how important it is to the site’s goals.

“(Digital strategy director Ory Rinat) said the index gives a more accurate performance picture because it weighs The Daily Signal’s content performance relative to what its goals are, rather than assume all big numbers are automatically good numbers.”
