NPR’s use of the annotated speech
Lori Kelley, American Press Institute,NPR’s Tyler Fisher walks through how the radio network added a layer of fact-checking and context to speeches and other transcriptions during the busy 2016 election season, creating a one-two punch of value for the audience. Not only does it allow the reader to revisit, in detail, an event they may have watched separately, but it creates value-added content with annotation. Though NPR built a custom tool, a similar effort could be created through a tool like DocumentCloud or simple text styling.
