How to run a podcasting pledge drive

A complicated but potentially fruitful, new way to monetize podcasts.

Pledge drives are as old as public radio. But they’re very new to podcasting. This article explains how Slate used a pledge drive in its podcast about Trump to drive new subscribers to its membership program. It may be worth experimenting with for established podcasts with concrete followings. But it should be avoided for people relatively new to podcasting or short of the consumer revenue expertise to run the pledge drive.
