Building live events into a reporting project built on community participation

This case study describes how one news collaboration built live events atop a deep investigation/reporting project built on community participation.

This short case study shows one way that a news collaboration included in-person community engagement as a key element in a community investigation around lead in the water of low-income neighborhoods in Chicago. It provides potential inspiration for how news organizations might consider live gatherings as an element of a larger campaign. It also highlights the importance of thinking about community partners, like public libraries, that already have tried-and-true methods for convening people.
